The Triumph – “Moving Back to Richmond, eh?”

The Triumph

“Moving Back to Richmond, eh”

Helping talented people secure rewarding IT positions is what we do.  Being a Richmond, VA based company, many of our positions are in Richmond, and often times we fill them with our local IT contacts, which are some of the best and brightest technology professionals around!

But a month or so ago, I was working with one of Triumph’s most loyal clients and trying to help them fill a very tough role.  It was on-site at a large manufacturing plant and the client had no documentation, and the role was being vacated by someone that would not give any information as to what he had been doing…for the past 15 years!  They had legacy systems that need to be updated, and unknown systems that no one knew how to use…that kept the operations running!  The client told me, “I know this is tough and it’s OK if you don’t want to work on it.  BUT, if you do, we have to have someone start on-site next Monday.

Well, nothing is easy in our business!  At about the same time thought, I started networking with a new candidate — Andrew, a gentleman that was trying to relocate from Canada to Richmond.  He seemed frustrated that other recruiters “wouldn’t listen to me” or “they were too apprehensive to work with me because I was all the way up in Canada” or – the worst – “they would talk about a job, and then I would never hear from them again.”  They even seemed uneducated about his work authorization in the U.S.  When I dug in further, Andrew had lived in Richmond back in the day and had friends and family here, so he was actually motivated to get back.  I started liking this guy more and more.  Since he was up in Canada, I checked his references…and then I REALLY liked this guy.  I talked to the CIO at his former company and he said “Andrew LOVES a challenge.  He can dive into anything and figure out what it is, how it works, and how it can help the company.  He can handle customer support, networks, desktops–everything.”  This is exactly what I needed!

eh

That was on a Tuesday.  By the next Wednesday, Andrew had gone through two interviews, driven over 600 miles, seen a few friends, gone through a background check, GOT A NEW JOB with Triumph, and celebrated over a beer with Jason and me.  Best of all, he happily started that Monday, and it’s been a great success story – he is doing incredibly well at the client and uncovering processes that need to be done and updating old systems, and really adding value!  Triumph was able to get the client a very tough skill set, with the right attitude and problem solving skills, at budget, and in record time.

Our placements are not just putting bodies with jobs.  Our success has come from being experts at uncovering talent, and understanding our client’s needs – and then delivering.  If you are considering making a move, or are a hiring manager with needs, remember that we have over 40 years of IT recruiting experience in the Richmond area.  We know where the openings are, and we know who the best candidates are.  Whether you live in Richmond, or are relocating from another city (or Country), we will work with you one on one to find a career fit.  And if you are not local, no problem — in the last 6 years, we have placed IT pros in 17 states all over the U.S.  Just call the Triumph Team, eh!
